Description

Where does VR fit in a training program? What challenges come with VR training? What tools are needed to make VR training successful?

When training in virtual reality, many organizations are excited about the prospect but weary of the investment and application.

As with all learning technologies and learning projects, the Blue Stake group at Salt River Project in Phoenix, Arizona, found itself in this category. They had a detailed teaching process that required hands-on training, safety concerns about putting unqualified learners out in the field, and difficulty recreating the activity in a classroom environment. All three of these concerns lead them to explore virtual reality as an alternative to their current approach.

In this session, attendees will walk through the process SRP used to develop this virtual reality project from the beginning.

  • They will discuss the early-stage development, storyboard, and planning that was the foundation for this project.
  • They will explore the different stages of development, including tools and techniques used along the way and the type of team needed to be successful.
  • They will identify the obstacles faced by the SRP team and the lessons they learned to work through them.
  • They will also hear the current results of implementation and how employees have reacted so far to this immersive experience.

Finally, this session will close with an audience Q&A to discuss any aspect of a VR project, from planning to delivery. Attendees will leave with the information needed to begin planning for their own virtual reality projects.
