Samir Saber is the Dean of the Digital & Information Technology Center of Excellence and the Executive
Director of Workforce Technology at Houston Community College. The programs that he oversees
include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Programming (Including Computer Information Systems,
Applications Development, and Cloud Computing), Networking (Including Cyber Security), Digital
Communication (Including Graphic Design, Visual Effects & Motion Graphics, Digital Photography, and
XR Design & Development), Digital Gaming & Simulation, and Continuing Education programs such as
the Unmanned Aircraft System (Drones) certificate. He is also serving as the Executive Director of
Workforce Technology where he works with all the deans at HCC spanning across the other 13 Centers
of Excellence including Global Energy, Transportation, and Smart Manufacturing to combine efforts and
create synergies as they relate to technology and education. Samir has helped the Center of Excellence
and HCC open a multitude of labs including Innovation Labs, Apple labs, a Virtual Reality lab, and a
Security Operations Center lab.
Samir Saber started his journey at HCC as a part-time faculty in 2011 and became full-time in 2014. He
served as the department chair for Computer Systems Networking between 2018 and 2020 and as the
Director of Continuing Education IT between 2020 and 2021 under the Digital & Information Technology
Center of Excellence. Samir has been the Dean over the DIT COE and Executive Director of Workforce
Technology at HCC since October 15, 2021.
Saber has over 15 years of professional experience in the academia, web hosting, and oil & gas
industries. Saber received his Master of Science degree in Information Assurance and Security from
Capella University and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree in Information Systems
Management from the University of Texas at Dallas. Samir holds the Certified Information Systems
Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certifications.
