There have been numerous technological leaps in the computing landscape over the past 50 years that removed barriers between people for connection and collaboration. This would not have been possible without the boldest innovation that questioned the status quo to improve the human experience at home and at work.

We're moving beyond 2D screens and into immersive experiences in the metaverse, helping create the next evolution of social technology.

This conversation will explore common metaverse myths, practical use cases, and the opportunities ahead in this next shift in computing platforms.

In the enterprise space the most common XR use case is real-world analogs for design evaluation and for training,

However, XR can also be used to explore abstract concepts. Aviar Technology is building AviarGraph, a dynamic, immersive 3D visualization of network graphs built in Neo4j. Data scientists/analysts can fully explore their network graph data, leveraging force-directed graph technology to reveal data topology, measures of centrality, and significance of data nodes and relationships among data elements.

Social networks, system integrations, and process flows reveal themselves for clearer understanding and for decision support. This use case will discuss specific use cases including test and evaluation flow investigation for the U.S. Air Force as well as risk flow analysis.

Plant Design & Engineering teams generate highly complex 3D models. VR based design reviews help identify potential problems before construction starts, saving precious dollars & project hours during construction. MR & AR promise to bring efficiencies during construction by enabling CMs to overlay the latest 3D model onsite and make decisions based on real time site conditions.

Both of the above use cases however have limited adoption due to technology restrictions like model handling capability on XR devices, workflow complexity & IT security challenges. Further, after construction, the engineering models are rarely used by facility managers due to accessibility restrictions as well as lack of of well packaged applications.

We are presenting new capabilities, which allow visualizing very large 3D models without compromising data accuracy and user experience on standalone XR devices like Quest, Hololens and iPad. We also show how the same model, used during the construction phase, can be used by facility management teams for use cases like training & onboarding, operations and maintenance.
